Chef Carl Schroeder
After graduating in 1996 from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York Schroeder worked at a number of notable restaurant under the region’s top chefs including; San Francisco’s Aqua with Michael Mina and Marin’s Lark Creek Inn, with Chef Bradley Ogden. In 2002 Schroeder joined Ogden as Executive Chef opening Arterra Restaurant in Del Mar, CA.
During his time at Arterra he received numerous honors such as “Best Hotel Chef Series,” from the James Beard Foundation; “California Chef of the Year,” by the California Travel Industry Association; and “Top 8 Chefs in Southern California,” Angelo Magazine.
In 2006 Schroeder left Arterra Restaurant to open the award-winning Market Restaurant + Bar. Schroeder’s most recent project, BANKERS HILL Bar + Restaurant opened in
In 2008 he was selected “Chef of the Year,” by the California Restaurant Association. He was a 2009 James Beard Finalist and most recently MARKET Restaurant has received a 29 out of 30 for food by the ZAGAT poll.
